In the history of Western art, although there are many schools in each period, from a broad perspective, before Cezanne in 1887, it is called the classical period, and the core value of art in this period is how to solve the true representation of normal vision. The reason why we regard Impressionism as the last peak of classicism is that it is here that human beings really solved the two major problems of shape and color in art. From the perspective of restoring people's normal vision, art has all achieved the reproduction of real vision. Therefore, classicism has completed its historical mission, and at the same time, it also indicates that art history will enter the next stage - the modern art period, and mankind will continue to explore and move forward in this new era, adding a more brilliant page to art history.
During the ten years from 1979 to 1989, Zhu Wei has been advocating the shape and color of classicism. He changed the status quo of the art circle at that time, which respected the Russian school, and directly learned from Western classicism masters. "Zhu Wei's exploration of classicism started early" in Chinese oil painting, said the critic Yin Shuangxi in a 1991 commentary in Chinese Oil Painting. Zhu Wei believes that classicism in the history of art is the most glorious period of human art, and the only standard for good and bad art works is to see whether the works conform to the norms of the masters of this period. In the past ten years, Zhu Wei participated in the sixth and seventh National Art exhibitions, the first China Oil Painting Exhibition and all the most important exhibitions in China, as well as the award-winning and published works, with obvious classical characteristics, such as "The Fire that cannot be extinguished", "Day and Night", "Soldier Series", "Autumn Fruit", "Winter Solstice" and so on. During this period, Zhu Wei created a large number of works that had great influence in the art world. His body, portraits, military theme group paintings, landscapes, still life and other classical style works became an important part of his artistic career.
