Horse Series

Painted in the year of the Horse, the “Horse Series” uses a pun (i.e. “on the horse” in Chinese shares the same characters and pronunciation as the word for “immediately”) to express the themes and ideas surrounding the major social events in China. For example, due to recent major nationwide policy adjustments, the one child policy is coming to an end, which has tremendous impact on Chinese citizens’ way of life and world view. The “Horse Series” articulates the artist’s opinions on the effect of policy change through art, to increase awareness and promote potential discussion points.
